HIS is a business as distinctive and trend-setting as its clients – specifically those on Capitol Hill – offering personalized grooming services and high-end grooming products, while encapsulating the history, spirit, and rich essence of the traditional barbershop. Over the years, most gentlemen have compromised a good haircut with an experience in a salon, or a barbershop experience where the barbers are not trained to cut their specific hair type and texture, or lack overall professionalism.

This place has the be the best haircut I have ever received, I am usually skeptical of such a high rated place. However, upon entering and receiving a star treatment from Ameen I was sold. The haircut was above and beyond he took his time and we had a great conversation. I look forward to coming here a couple more times before I leave DC.
If you are in the area it’s worth the travel and it’s worth the money. If you pride yourself on looking your absolute best then this is the place.
This place is legit. I looked around at other places, but they were either booked too far out or their system for scheduling appointments was confusing. Service at HIS Grooming was easy to book via their website. They were pretty full, but I happened to find one slot the next morning, which I booked. Their setup is pretty classy, let classic. I felt like I was in a man-cave salon meets old-school barbershop.
Upon entering, you’re met with a friendly gentleman who offers you a beverage (tea or water, if I recall correctly). This staff person also helps with payment after your cut, which is more efficient than the barber handling the transaction. They have a swipe machine for payment, which made everything clean and comfortable.
The service was solid. I got a beard trim, which was reasonably priced. The barber did a great job. He was a little rough around the jugular, but otherwise I don’t have any complaints. His skills were apparent, his demeanor professional, and his courtesy far exceeded the service I’m used to in the District. And the hair care products used can be purchased there on site. I’d highly recommend HIS Grooming to anyone in DC who wants to avoid the crowds in NW or the trek to NE.
This place is what the Grooming Lounge wishes it could be. The vibe is outstanding and organic, not forced and corporate.
I was hesitant, but upon entering was offered my choice of beverage and had a chance to watch one barber studying every move the other barber was making on another customer. They’d discuss each cut they made and why it was done the way it was. These guys are serious about good hair and beard cuts, and it shows. They want to know what makes the cuts work, what is going to look best on each individual, and they appear passionate about constantly improving…even after possessing such a high level of skill.
I’d feel 100% comfortable letting them suggest the best look for me, or trying to recreate a look I’m going for. I don’t know anywhere else I’ve been to that I’d trust to receive as high a quality of attention to hair and beard. They are stylish, more than educated in their specialties, and even paying a salon price felt fair for the level of attention I got. Heck, the hair wash alone made me feel guilty for receiving too much attention.
I’ll also add I have the dreaded bald spot so many men are getting as they age, and this is the first place in my life I was able to look at the back of my head and still feel good about myself. Can’t recommend this place enough.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at HIS Grooming today. Booking online was easy, I got a same day appointment, and the location was easy to find considering I am not a local. I was greeted by Francis when I walked in the door, and Carlos was my barber. I told him what I was thinking, and he did a great job creating the style. I am very happy I stopped here for grooming, and I’m really disappointed that it is so far away from Tennessee which will make it hard to come back often.
